1953 Topps Ebba St. Claire 91 - Braves Card of the Day ⚾

With a limited amount of time on Google, it can be hard to find the type of details I’d like to know about the Braves players of yesteryear. When Ebba St. Claire made his debut with the Boston Braves in 1951, was he viewed as the heir apparent to the great Walker Cooper at catcher or was he just a placeholder until a better solution, most likely Del Crandall who was serving in the Korean War at the time, could be found to take over for the aging Cooper? If Crandall hadn’t been drafted, would St. Claire have ever seen a day in the majors for the Braves?
